DARSHANA BHANA

Pharmacy Manager

I qualified as a Pharmacist from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1992, and worked at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for 5 years rotating through their satellite pharmacies. My passion was working at the Neonatal ICU Dispensary and the TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) unit, where we did clinical ward rounds and unit-dosing of medication. While at Bara, I enrolled in a Master’s Degree in Clinical Pharmacy. Thereafter I worked as a Senior Clinical Research Associate in Rhone-Poulenc Rohrer and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals for 5 years, doing clinical trials in the fields of Oncology; Erectile Dysfunction and Cardiovascular Health. After that I worked as a Clinical Trials Co-ordinator at Dr Bhana’s practice where we participated in a number of clinical trials in the fields of Endocrinology & Cardiovascular Health.
In 2013 we opened Pharmex Pharmacy at The Centre of Advanced Medicine. It was a leap of faith into an aspect of pharmacy I didn’t know too well. In the ensuing years I have come to love the interaction with our patients who are well informed and intellectually engaging. We have found a way to straddle the bridge between allopathic and alternative medicine, and this adds a constantly evolving and dynamic aspect to our pharmacy

SHEETAL GALAL

Pharmacy Manager

I graduated with B.Pharm degree from the University of Western Cape in 2000 and with a Master’s in Business Administration Degree in 2009. I had the opportunity over the years to gain an array of experience that includes hospital pharmacy, oncology pharmacy, research and clinical trials, production pharmacy, quality assurance and regulatory pharmacy. Ultimately I am passionate about retail pharmacy, serving the community and connecting with people. I love being a pharmacist because of the lives I have touched, but most importantly, because of the lives that have touched me. Pharmacy is my passion and my dharma.
I am fortunate to be supported by an amazing team over the years, a wonderful husband and two beautiful children.

Chiedza Chibanda

Pharmacist

I completed my Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2020. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of healthcare settings, including private hospitals, government institutions, and retail pharmacies. These experiences have helped me build a well-rounded understanding of clinical pharmacy practice.

I enjoy working closely with patients and feel confident counselling them on new treatments, as well as supporting them in their management of chronic conditions and minor ailments. I find it especially rewarding to help patients feel comfortable and informed about their healthcare choices.

I joined Pharmex Pharmacy in 2024 as a locum pharmacist and have truly enjoyed my role and the relationships I’ve built with the patients and my colleagues.
